Long press on the account you’d like to pay your cheque in to and select ‘Pay in a cheque’. If you don’t have the ‘long press’ feature on your phone, select the account you want the cheque to be paid into.
On an iOS phone, you will then need to tap the three dots on the top right of the screen and then select ‘Pay in a cheque’.
If you have an Android phone, you will need to tap the plus sign which can be found on the bottom right of the screen and then select ‘Pay in a cheque’.
Once you have done this then enter the amount that is on the cheque, scan the front and back of it and submit this to us.
This is a free service, however data rate charges may apply which might be charged by the mobile network provider.
A submitted cheque won’t appear on the statement until a decision is made as to whether it’s paid or unpaid. This will be no later than 23:59 on Day 1 (the working day after the cheque has been deposited) assuming the cheque was deposited before the cut-off time of 22:00 on our App.

You can pay cheques into a 1st Account, Savings Account and the Bonus Savings Account only.
You will still be able to pay in a total of £750 in cheques per day with an individual limit of £500 per cheque. If you have a cheque that is over the individual limit of £500, you can post this into us or pay it in at a HSBC branch or post office.
To get the best image of your cheque: place the cheque flat on a dark, unreflective background/surface select the 'capture cheque' option within the pay in a cheque feature in your app and hover over the cheque with your device's camera
Ensure the image is in focus and the whole cheque is visible inside the box on the screen, the image will then be captured automatically.
Some cheques are not blank on the back but just so we can double check we would need you to scan the back even if its blank.
Yes, Physical Secure Key users are able to use this feature within our App too.
If there are any problems with the cheque you've paid in, we’ll contact you using the most recent postal address you’ve given us. You can check the address we hold for you in the 'Profile' section of your app. Please retain the cheque until the money is available in your account.
